Kellybean
Random bits of life

The SF Chronicle ran a special in the Business and Technology section earlier this year.

The article I read put a spotlight on those “baring their souls” in their blogs. It pointed me to many different blogs: a husband that had lost his wife to breast cancer and how he’s coping and moving on; a first-time father (a great blog, btw); a woman that’s trying to get pregnant; and a guy with Lou Gherig’s disease. In all, it’s inspiring others that are going though similar events, knowing that they’re not alone.

My uncle asked me this question a while back: Why blog? Why would someone want to post personal stuff on the internet? Granted, I don’t post extremely *personal* stuff on kellybean…our friend Nick has summed it up on his blog’s welcome page: it’s a great way to let friends and family know what’s going on in our day-to-day lives. I’ve kept journals, diaries for the longest time and kellybean is just another outlet for the going-ons in my mind.

Shortly after I started kellybean, I e-mailed my friend GCW, apologizing for not getting in touch sooner and catching her up on what’s been going on. GCW responded something along the lines of that it was fine because, now with kellybean, she felt closer to me – knowing what S & I have been up to.

For those who are curious: kellybean was my friend Sarah’s – my roomie sophomore year at UCSD – nickname for me. Though, I do also like jellybeans (jellybellys only!).

So, here’s to 1 year of kellybean and thanks to all my readers (all 5 of you!) for reading…
