Baobob. Souverain. Funston.
Little Baobob is where we celebrated JC’s birthday (3 weeks late). A fun, teeny-tiny bar in the Mission with some dance space where the DJ spins French Caribbean and Latin tunes.
Saturday, S + I ventured up to the Russian River Wine Valley for the annual barrel tasting with Niki and Bill. You get to taste future releases and if you like what you taste, you can pre-purchase a case or more for a discounted price. We visited Rodney Strong, Chateau Souverain, Clos Du Bois, Canyon Rock and La Crema. Chateau Souverain, had, by far, the best tasting pre-wine of the day. It was their Cabernet Sauvignon – Reserve. Can’t remember the year, unfortunately. But we didn’t purchase the case, since it was selling for a discounted price of $515. Yup, just a bit steep.
Sunday was just the most gorgeous day in SF – so Lucie and I met my mom at Ft. Funston and took a walk. Lucie chased after her ball for more than an hour and after her bath, slept for the rest of the day.
…and I certainly don’t. Photos of the Maverick’s competition yesterday.
Trust me folks, mixing ping-pong and alcohol is NOT a good idea. I have a gi-normous bruise on my arm from bumping into a chair chasing after a ping-pong ball. Ouch!
S + I had a great weekend in San Diego. We arrived past bedtime Friday night, so after a tour of L+G’s new home and a bit of chit chat, we called it a night. (Are we getting old or what?)
Saturday morning, once troops were fed and caffeinated, we headed out to Ocean Beach to watch KJ’s soccer game. Her team, the Vixens, lost…but we got to see her play goalie! ;o) We then visited Point Loma Seafood for yummy fish sandwiches. A definite must visit when you’re in San Diego. During lunch, G got a call from one of her clients saying that they had run out of beer. How does a hotel run out of beer? Even now, I can’t think of a reason. But am glad they did run out because we got a brief tour of the Anheuser-Busch warehouse off the 5 so that G could pick up the small delivery. It’s a true city of beer with it’s own keg room. After delivering the goods, we picked up KJ and headed to Viejas. I forewent the gambling and headed to the outlets across the street with everyone except Sylvain, who headed straight to the poker room.
We all left Viejas a few dollars short – either from shopping or gambling.
Enjoyed a delicious meal from Phil’s BBQ and follwed it up with an entertaining game of Pictionary.
Sunday, G hosted brunch and more ping pong and before we knew it, it was time to head to the airport…
