Random bits of life

Yes, he does look like an angel with those blue eyes and boy-ish charms.

Today, May 4, is St. Sylvain day in France. Each saint has a “day” and from what I’m told, it’s another special day to celebrate. Not quite a birthday celebration caliber, but some sort of acknowledgement. So, if you’ve read this, contact Sylvain and wish him a happy saint day!

I can’t really find out who St. Sylvain is and what he did to become a saint. But, I’ll keep looking!

Interesting but sounds awful: Lucie is derived from the feminine form of Lucius, Lucia. Saint Lucia was a 4th-century martyr from Syracuse who had her eyes gouged out.

Sylvain is the french form of Silvanus, a Roman name derived from Latin silva “wood, forest”. Silvanus was the Roman god of forests.

Kelly could be related to the first name Ceallach (possibly derived either from Gaelic ceallach meaning “war, strife” or from a Gaelic word meaning “bright-headed). Alternatively, it might be related to a Pictish word meaning “wood” or “holly”.
