Our most “eloquent” president has done it again folks:
“We’ve got an issue in America. Too many good docs are getting out of business. Too many OB/GYNs aren’t able to practice their love with women all across this country.” — Poplar Bluff, MO, September 7, 2004
Like the bumper sticker says…Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing their idiot.
Miraloma Park.
Hard to believe that we’ve been in the house for 2 weeks now. Of course, we’re still settling. The new windows are (hopefully) being installed today and that means that Sylvain & I can finally go shopping for shades. (It was an ungodly 87 degrees in our house last night.)
Living in this neighborhood has been a new experience for me. Everyone either knows everybody or knows of everybody. People say hello and good morning (even those that live 5 or 6 blocks up from us). It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Coming from the Sunset (where people mind their own business), Bernal Heights (where you’re worried if the guy on the corner is gonna steal your car), and Belmont (where your car determines who you are), Miraloma Park is like a breath of fresh air. To add, this neigborhood is extremely dog-friendly – every other house seems to have a pooch of some sort.
Our immediate neighbors have been talking amongst themselves (so we hear) and are curious to see what we’ve done with the place. They all know that the house was in absolute s*** shape when it was on the market and are eager to see what we’ve done. So are we. ;o)
Just thinking about that joke from Pulp Fiction…
Anyhoo, what y’all missed while we were offline and unconnected:
*The MOVE: expecting the worst from a moving company, we actually had a wonderful moving experience! We’d hire these guys again in a heartbeat.
*The APPLIANCES: expecting everything to go smoothly, but Lowe’s delivered the wrong refrigerator (d’oh!). AND…the others didn’t get installed until this past Friday. We’re still trying to figure out what happened to the fridge we ordered.
*LUCIE: apparently the move and number of contractors at the house are stressing out our little baby, so we’ve opted to keep her out of day care until things are all settled. She’s been hanging at work with Sylvain.
*The BRIT MILAH: I attended my first brit a few weeks ago. For those of you who didn’t know, Nathan has a new little brother, Lior. It was interesting to attend, but I couldn’t watch.
*La première anniversaire: Sylvain didn’t forget and we forewent gifts, since, ya know, we bought a house. We arrived a bit early and had Irish Coffees at the Buena Vista. Then we enjoyed the most luxurious dinner at Gary Danko. I can’t even begin to tell you how special the experience was.
We’re still settling in – waiting for the ordeal that is our bathroom remodel to be over.
I have my high school 10-year reunion this Saturday night. Still don’t know what I’m wearing – isn’t that always the case? ;o)
Just wanted to let you know that kellybean and enlightened are back online…will try to write more tomorrow!
